This is a PDF knit pattern for a beanie with cables worked from the bottom up. It includes instructions for 5 yarn weights:  bulky (Malabrigo Chunky), light bulky (Malabrigo Mecha), light super bulky (Manos del Uruguay Franca), light super bulky (Malabrigo Noventa), and super bulky (Malabrigo Rasta).

Intermediate (cables).  Must be able to follow a written knit pattern.

#5 LIGHT BULKY (MECHA) KNITTING NEEDLES:
US #6 (4 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
US #9 (5.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
A set of DPNs in same size used for body (optional), or use magic loop method

#5 BULKY (CHUNKY) KNITTING NEEDLES:
US #6 (4 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
US #10.5 (6.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
A set of DPNs in same size used for body (optional), or use magic loop method

#6 LIGHT SUPER BULKY (FRANCA) KNITTING NEEDLES:
US #10.5 (6.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
US #13 (9 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
US #15 (10 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle

US #9 (5.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
US #11 (8 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle

#6 SUPER BULKY (RASTA) KNITTING NEEDLES:
US #11 (8 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
US #13 (9 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
US #15 (10 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
A set of DPNs in same size used for body (optional), or use magic loop method

YARN:  
#5 LIGHT BULKY:  Approximately 135-175 yards of #5 light bulky weight (I used Malabrigo Mecha)*
#5 BULKY:  Approximately 130-150 yards of #5 bulky weight (I used Malabrigo Chunky)*
#6 LIGHT SUPER BULKY:  Approx. 90-100 yds of #6 super bulky (I used Manos del Uruguay Franca)
#6 LIGHT SUPER BULKY:  Approx. 120-140 yds of #6 super bulky weight (I used Malabrigo Noventa)*
#6 SUPER BULKY:  Approximately 80-95 yards of #6 super bulky weight yarn (I used Malabrigo Rasta)*
Note:  All yarns listed with an asterisk may potentially need more than one skein to complete pattern.
